Ok, now that you’ve booked your boudoir shoot, I'm sure you're wondering, "What do I have to do to prepare for my boudoir session?" Every woman asks that, and it can be kind of scary.
There are tons of nerves and emotions leading up to a boudoir shoot, and that’s okay! I’m here to help! I wrote down some guidelines and suggestions to ease and organize your mind to prepare you for this awesome experience!
DO's and DON'T's for Getting Ready for your Boudoir Experience
DO schedule your hair, nail, tan, wax, or any appointment you'd like to make close to your session date to feel super prepared!
DON'T choose this time to experiment with a new DIY process like at-home hair dye or self-tanner. Unless this is something you normally do and you're comfortable with it, now isn't the time for a wild card.
Trust me, I've been there myself. Before a session I panicked about having porcelain skin and tried a spray tan on myself. I ended up with awful streaks down my legs.
We don't want something like that to distract you from the fun you'll have at your session, even though it could be adjusted in Photoshop.
DO have your outfits ready to go the day before, so you aren't rushing. Check out our outfit guide!
DON'T leave out something you'd LOVE to wear, because you're worried it's too tight or loose. We can always clip fabric in the back or leave a zipper undone a bit. Minor wardrobe problems can be solved.
DO make sure you eat something the day of your session! I know it can be hard with nerves. But keep in mind - I'll have snacks at the studio too. So after you relax a bit during your session and you're able to eat more, we've got you!
DON'T starve yourself. If you're worried about bloating, then eat something healthy and drink plenty of water, but please eat. Keep in mind that we will pose and light you in the MOST flattering ways. Remember your body is doing its job, and that is beautiful.
DO something that helps you relax before your session. Whether that's cuddling with your dog, meditating, doing yoga, or chatting with a friend.
DON'T down a bunch of shots beforehand. Tempting as it may be, I promise you don't need that to relax. Have some trust in our process and in our team of professionals.
Here is a list of mental exercises that can help you feel as confident as possible before your boudoir photoshoot.
-
Picture yourself KILLING it during your session and having a fun time.
-
Imagine others with your body type being inspired by you.
-
Imagine your daughter/sister/mother/friend being inspired by you.
-
Allow yourself to feel all the feels. You're human and it's okay.
-
If you are hard on yourself, ask yourself why? Who told you that you or your body isn't good enough? Where did that come from?
